You Have Been Ordained

If you have received Jesus, there are good works that have been ordained for you and you have been ordained for them.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The works you should do for the Lord were ordained for you before. Just like Jeremiah and New Testament believers, before He created you and before the foundation of the world.

Jeremiah 1:5: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Ephesians 1:4: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Being ordained is not just for full-time Christian ministers. If you have received Jesus, you should know that you have been ordained by God for specific good works too. God has created you and then recreated you for good works for which he has created no one else. When we receive Jesus we are ordained for many blessings. But we are also ordained for some responsibilities.

Churches and spiritual leaders ordain people for certain ministries. But being ordained by God is most important. It is wonderful when other believers recognize that God has ordained you for a particular ministry and help prepare you to fulfill it and believe that you will be able to fulfill it. Ordination by churches can and should cause Christians to take seriously their ministries. But they ought to take it more seriously that they have been ordained by God, whether or not they have been ordained by a church. If the Lord and church leadership ask you to be a teacher, an usher, a custodian or any other thing, whether or not there has been an ordination ceremony, you have been ordained. You should do it for the Lord and you should take it seriously and do the best job for Him that you can. A few passages on human ordination:

Titus 1:5: For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

1 Corinthians 7:17: But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

2 Timothy 2:2: And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
